Name: Joel Grade

New title: Chief financial officer of Baxter

Previous title: Executive vice president of corporate development at Sysco

Joel Grade will become CFO of Baxter starting Oct. 18 after a long career in the foodservice industry, according to a Tuesday announcement. Grade worked for wholesale food distributor Sysco for 25 years, holding roles including CFO, chief accounting officer and, most recently, executive vice president of corporate development.

Grade will join Deerfield, Illinois-based Baxter as the company is in the process of spinning out its kidney care and acute therapies segments, leaving it to focus on its surgical and patient support products.

“The opportunity to contribute to Baxter’s ongoing transformation and make a meaningful difference for our many stakeholders is both motivating and well aligned with my experience in driving scale across large organizations and successfully executing against a company’s strategic objectives,” Grade said in a news release.

Baxter’s interim CFO, Brian Stevens, will return to his previous role of chief accounting officer and controller. He had stepped up to the interim job in May after Baxter’s former CFO, Jay Saccaro, left to become CFO of GE HealthCare as it spun out of its parent company.
