Sanofi and Harris Poll global hemophilia study finds ‘troubling disconnect’ between patients and providers

Sanofi wants to open up con­ver­sa­tions about he­mo­phil­ia, es­pe­cial­ly be­tween peo­ple liv­ing with the con­di­tion and their doc­tors.

Dri­ving its am­bi­tion are in­sights from a new Har­ris Poll sur­vey com­mis­sioned to query pa­tients, care­givers and hema­tol­o­gists from around the world and find no­tice­able gaps be­tween pa­tients’ and providers’ per­spec­tives.

More than half (54%) of pa­tients, for ex­am­ple, re­port­ed hav­ing fair or poor health, yet 71% tell their health­care providers they are do­ing fine. On­ly 35% of pa­tients think their hema­tol­o­gist in­volves them in treat­ment dis­cus­sions. Mean­while, 84% of hema­tol­o­gists said they want pa­tients to be more in­volved in treat­ment de­ci­sions.
