HHS on Friday announced its selections for the next-generation of Covid-19 vaccine candidates to receive $500 million in funding as part of the government’s Project NextGen.
First announced in May as a follow-up to Operation Warp Speed, Project NextGen has a $5 billion budget to create next-generation Covid-19 vaccines and treatments. The $500 million investment announced Friday builds on the $1.4 billion investment officials announced in August, which included $326 million to Regeneron to develop a new Covid-19 monoclonal antibody treatment.
