Thermo Fisher Scientific is laying off 97 employees in Alabama in January, adding to multiple rounds of layoffs the company has made across the country this year.
The layoffs will begin Jan. 2 when the company closes its facility in Auburn, AL, according to an Alabama WARN notice.
Thermo Fisher announced in August that it planned to lay off 205 employees at its site in Alachua, FL. The first round of layoffs happened in October, with the second in March. At the time, Thermo told Florida that it will move its viral vector manufacturing network into one location in Plainville, MA, while its science and technology work will remain in Alachua.
