The White House on Monday held a roundtable on pharmacy benefit managers featuring FTC Chair Lina Khan, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, as the Biden administration looks to keep up pressure on patients’ drug costs and PBMs.
The meeting was an opportunity for attendees to push for legislation that Senate Finance committee chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) said yesterday may not make it across the finish line until after the election next November. The legislation would make changes to how PBMs operate and increase transparency. But that bipartisan effort failed to make it into a spending package expected to soon make its way to President Joe Biden’s desk.
