Takeda trims operations at Austrian site, lays off 190 staffers

With no buyer yet for Takeda’s manufacturing site in Austria, the company is winding down operations at the location and is laying off 190 workers, a spokesperson told Endpoints News.

The Japanese company informed employees a year ago that it planned to divest its facility in Orth an der Donau, which is almost an hour away from Vienna, the spokesperson said. And still without a buyer, staffers were told last month that the facility’s R&D and manufacturing operations would wind down.
