Why a Medtronic exec thinks a convergence of med tech and consumer tech is coming

Medtron­ic is get­ting ready for a world where the health­care prod­ucts it’s known for in­ter­sect with con­sumer tech­nolo­gies that are push­ing fur­ther in­to the med­ical space.

Al­ready, more care is shift­ing from hos­pi­tals in­to the home, dri­ven in part by the pan­dem­ic, which cre­at­ed a push to dis­charge pa­tients ear­li­er and led to more mon­i­tor­ing at home. Frank Chan, the pres­i­dent of the acute care and mon­i­tor­ing di­vi­sion at Medtron­ic, told End­points News he doesn’t ex­pect that to change.
