Name: Shlomi Cohen

New title: CFO, CMR Surgical

Previous title: Chief financial and operations officer, Lumenis

CMR Surgical has appointed Shlomi Cohen as CFO as the maker of the Versius surgical robot continues to scale up its operations, the company said Tuesday.

Cohen, whose appointment is effective immediately, previously was chief financial and operations officer at Lumenis, a medical device maker focused on the aesthetic and vision markets, where he spent seven years. Before that, he was CFO at the software technology firm Formula Systems.

At Lumenis, Shlomi helped boost sales and profitability, and the company’s equity value doubled, CMR said.

“Shlomi will be hugely valuable to the team as we continue our rapid global scale up,” CMR CEO Supratim Bose said in a statement.

Bose was named CEO of U.K.-based CMR in March 2023 and has led the rollout of Versius to more than 160 systems, up from about 100 when he stepped into the role. The robot, a competitor to Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci, is a portable and modular system used in a range of procedures, including colorectal, gynecological and general surgeries.

In September, CMR said it secured an additional $165 million in funding to launch the soft tissue system into more geographies, expand in existing markets and continue its product innovation efforts.

Shlomi takes over as CFO from Anna Wasyl, who is moving into the new position of chief commercial partnerships and operations officer with CMR.

The company said more than 20,000 surgical procedures have been completed to date with the Versius robot.
