BARDA orders more smallpox and mpox vaccines from Bavarian Nordic

BAR­DA is con­tin­u­ing its dri­ve to se­cure more small­pox vac­cines, ink­ing an­oth­er or­der with man­u­fac­tur­er Bavar­i­an Nordic.

The Dan­ish man­u­fac­tur­er re­ceived an or­der from BAR­DA for $120 mil­lion-worth of its small­pox/mpox vac­cine on Thurs­day. Around $96 mil­lion of the con­tract­ed vac­cines will be man­u­fac­tured this year but will on­ly part­ly re­store the bulk prod­uct used dur­ing the mpox out­break last year.
