Consumer genetics testing giant 23andMe is experiencing a major data leak.
A hacker published records of four million users online last Tuesday, claiming the dataset contains information on the wealthiest people living in the US and Western Europe, TechCrunch reported. This is the latest wave of reported leaks after 23andMe announced earlier this month that hackers got user data by accessing accounts that had compromised passwords. The hacker used data compiled from a tool 23andMe’s users can opt into, revealing profile information about users with Ashkenazi Jewish and Chinese heritage.
