A Mark Cuban copy? Cigna’s Express Scripts to offer what it calls another cost-plus pricing model

Cigna Group is going to sell prescription drugs for a markup in a model that’s similar to billionaire Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drug Company, but at a greater scale.

Starting in early 2024, Cigna’s pharmacy benefit management subsidiary Express Scripts — which controls about one-quarter of the PBM market — will offer employers, government organizations and health plans the choice to pay up to 15% above wholesale costs plus a flat pharmacy dispensing fee for drugs, the company said in a press release Tuesday.
