Biden signs sweeping executive order on AI, with changes coming for FDA and healthcare

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden on Mon­day signed a wide-rang­ing ex­ec­u­tive or­der seek­ing to stream­line how the gov­ern­ment us­es and reg­u­lates ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence, with some broad im­pli­ca­tions for the health­care space.

The ex­ec­u­tive or­der fo­cus­es on a range of is­sues, in­clud­ing pri­va­cy and track­ing the safe­ty of AI us­age in health­care prac­tices. In re­marks ahead of the sign­ing, Biden tout­ed the ex­ec­u­tive or­der and urged Con­gress to al­so step in to pass AI reg­u­la­tions.
