FDA is awarding $50 million to two prominent North Carolina universities to establish a regulatory science research center — and the latest institution to receive an award is FDA Commissioner Robert Califf’s alma mater and former employer Duke University.
Duke, alongside the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will receive $50 million over five years to establish the Research Triangle Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI). The initiative also includes collaborations with North Carolina State University and North Carolina Central University, which is a historically Black college and university. The funding will be available on Sept. 1.
