Charles River Laboratories plans to lay off 55 employees in the Bay Area after deciding to stop its pharmacokinetic and pharmacology work there.
According to a WARN notice in California, the layoffs will go into effect Sept. 19. A spokesperson for Charles River confirmed the layoffs.
“Charles River is continuously evaluating our business operations and have determined that the pharmacokinetic and pharmacology services provided [by] our discovery site in South San Francisco are not currently a strategic fit to support future growth,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
