Colorado begins process to potentially set payment limit on Amgen’s arthritis drug Enbrel

Fol­low­ing fed­er­al ef­forts like the drug price re­forms in the In­fla­tion Re­duc­tion Act, some states have al­so tak­en it in­to their own hands to curb the prices of drugs.

On Fri­day, Col­orado’s Pre­scrip­tion Drug Af­ford­abil­i­ty Board vot­ed to set an up­per pay­ment lim­it on Am­gen’s arthri­tis drug En­brel.

The vote starts a like­ly six-month process of dis­cus­sion and gath­er­ing da­ta to de­cide on what that lim­it will be. The board could al­so de­cide not to move for­ward with an up­per-lim­it pay­ment at any point in the process. The board will hold mul­ti­ple pub­lic hear­ings over the fol­low­ing months.
