Healthcare investment firm Deerfield Management has created another company to partner up with academia, and it’s promising up to $130 million over 10 years to help Washington University researchers create new therapies and diagnostics.
Deerfield has formed nearly 30 partnerships with academia to date, and its latest tie-up is with one of the most well-funded US universities. The St. Louis-based institution reeled in $633 million in NIH funding in the 2023 federal fiscal year, coming in behind just six other universities in the country. Its medical school ranked even higher, at No. 2 in NIH funding.
