Eli Lilly took legal action on Thursday to stop foreign importers and domestic distributors from selling and distributing watered-down versions of its blockbuster type 2 diabetes drug Mounjaro.
The drugmaker filed a general exclusion order and a cease-and-desist order at the International Trade Commission in Washington, DC, according to court documents. The accused parties are described as “online pharmacies selling low-grade tirzepatide … through misuse of Lilly’s Mounjaro trademark and/or false and misleading statements regarding approval and association.”
