EMA blocks drug production at Serra Pamies’ Spanish facility due to manufacturing, management issues

Spain-based Ser­ra Pamies Lab­o­ra­to­ries is sus­pend­ed un­til fur­ther no­tice from pro­duc­ing phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals at its Tar­rag­o­na fa­cil­i­ty and sup­ply­ing mor­phine to hos­pi­tals fol­low­ing mul­ti­ple man­u­fac­tur­ing and man­age­ment is­sues iden­ti­fied by the EMA.

The fa­cil­i­ty is al­so pre­vent­ed from man­u­fac­tur­ing any ster­ile and oral drugs for hu­mans and an­i­mals, which in­clud­ed hard cap­sules, tablets and liq­uids. Any prod­uct al­ready man­u­fac­tured at the Tar­rag­o­na site is pro­hib­it­ed from be­ing placed on the mar­ket, per an EMA re­port is­sued Mon­day.
