European Commission outlines how countries can share drugs to mitigate shortages

Ahead of this win­ter, the Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion (EC) has adopt­ed new strate­gies to ad­dress drug short­ages by al­low­ing coun­tries to share med­i­cines, mak­ing reg­u­la­tion more flex­i­ble and boost­ing man­u­fac­tur­ing ca­pac­i­ty.

“We need a sin­gle mar­ket for med­i­cines in the EU and a new ap­proach to bet­ter tack­le short­ages of crit­i­cal med­i­cines,” Stel­la Kyr­i­akides, Com­mis­sion­er for Health and Food Safe­ty said in the press re­lease.
