FDA backs new $82M mRNA manufacturing center at MIT

The Mass­a­chu­setts In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­o­gy will be aim­ing to de­sign and in­stall a new con­tin­u­ous mR­NA man­u­fac­tur­ing plat­form, with help from the fed­er­al gov­ern­ment.

Ac­cord­ing to MIT on Thurs­day, the project, backed by $82 mil­lion from the FDA’s Cen­ter for Bi­o­log­ics Eval­u­a­tion and Re­search over three years, will aim to ad­vance the field of mR­NA ther­a­peu­tics by pro­vid­ing a con­tin­u­ous man­u­fac­tur­ing tem­plate for oth­er com­pa­nies to fol­low, while fa­cil­i­tat­ing col­lab­o­ra­tion through­out the bio­phar­ma in­dus­try.
