Former Schrödinger exec launches RA Capital-backed startup for AI drug discovery

Su­per­lu­mi­nal Med­i­cines, a start­up claim­ing that it can use ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence to shrink the de­vel­op­ment of pre­clin­i­cal drug can­di­dates from years to a mat­ter of months, emerged from stealth Mon­day morn­ing with $33 mil­lion in seed fund­ing.

RA Cap­i­tal Man­age­ment led the round. It’s the largest seed fund­ing for a biotech that launched this year, ac­cord­ing to da­ta pro­vid­ed by Pitch­Book. Soft­ware in­vestor In­sight Part­ners, chip­mak­er Nvidia, and LGBTQ-fo­cused ven­ture cap­i­tal firm Gain­gels chipped in as well.
