Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee are demanding that the NIH hand over more details on its mpox research, according to a letter sent Friday to acting NIH Director Lawrence Tabak.
The lawmakers are threatening to subpoena Tabak if he doesn’t produce the documents by Oct. 31. The lawmakers said they previously had asked for details from the NIH on research led by Bernard Moss at the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (formerly led by Anthony Fauci), which sought to increase knowledge on the poxvirus’ pathogenesis and immunity.
