Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen plans to close down its vaccine and infectious disease unit in Leiden, the Netherlands, according to local news outlets.
The Leiden site once manufactured J&J’s Covid-19 vaccine before it halted production early last year, according to the New York Times. A few months after that, the FDA cut off J&J’s vaccine in the US with some limited exceptions following cases of a disorder called TTS (thrombosis with thrombocytopenia), in which blood clots develop alongside low blood platelet levels.
