Lawmakers hold FDA foreign inspection practices under microscope at hearing without agency attendance

A subcommittee of the House Energy & Commerce Committee dug into the FDA’s foreign inspection operations at a hearing today as the agency still works through a backlog of inspections from the pandemic.

The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee lawmakers on both sides of the aisle underscored the need for continued reforms for foreign inspections as the agency faces challenges with funding, staffing and coordinating with foreign governments.
