Lights, camera and community: AstraZeneca’s Alexion creates an original film to spotlight rare neurological disorder

As­traZeneca’s rare dis­ease arm Alex­ion is de­but­ing an orig­i­nal short film Thurs­day for pa­tients with the rare neu­ro­log­i­cal con­di­tion neu­romyelitis op­ti­ca spec­trum dis­or­der (NMOSD).

In the doc­u­men­tary, three pa­tients each read a let­ter writ­ten by one of the oth­ers that de­scribes their phys­i­cal and emo­tion­al ex­pe­ri­ences liv­ing with NMOSD. Their sto­ries con­tain many sim­i­lar­i­ties, like years of mis­di­ag­noses of mul­ti­ple scle­ro­sis, se­vere head and eye pain, re­laps­es, fam­i­ly sup­port and per­se­ver­ance.
