Moderna’s manufacturing future in Africa is less clear after the company held back plans to build an mRNA vaccine production site in Kenya.
“Moderna has not received any vaccine orders for Africa since 2022 and has faced the cancellation of previous orders, resulting in more than $1 billion in losses and write-downs,” a spokesperson told Endpoints News. With the construction pause, the company will review what future demand for mRNA vaccines will be like in Africa, the spokesperson added.
