Novartis is axing 103 employees in New Jersey across clinical operations, calling the cuts part of an “organizational evolution.”
The layoffs will affect employees in East Hanover, where the drugmaker’s US headquarters are located, according to a WARN notice submitted to the state earlier this month — and will go into effect Nov. 24.
Plans for some substantial changes at Novartis were revealed more than a year ago, focusing on a reorganization of the drugmaker that currently employs more than 100,000 people. Novartis revealed last year it would cut roughly 8,000 jobs as part of the company overhaul, which also included around 1,400 at the company’s global headquarters in Switzerland.
