The world’s oldest person — Spaniard Maria Branyas Morera, who was born in the U.S. — died at age 117, her family said.

From 2022 to 2023, the number of births and the general fertility rate in the U.S. declined 2% and 3%, respectively, according to the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics.
