The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is ramping up the production and availability of injectable contraceptives for women in lower- and middle-income nations.
The organization, along with Pfizer, Becton, Dickinson & Company, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, plan to deliver more than 320 million doses of the long-acting contraceptive Sayana Press through 2030. According to a statement, the organizations are updating a prior partnership that started in 2013 and are planning to increase the manufacturing capacity for producing the contraceptives.
