Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has called on two hospital systems to provide more information on how they use funds generated through the 340B program.
Congress established the 340B program in 1992 requiring drug manufacturers to offer discounts to health systems and hospitals serving low-income populations. The program generates revenue under certain circumstances when insurance reimbursements exceed the maximum price a manufacturer can charge, also called the 340B price.
