Servier found guilty of fraud in trial over pulled weight loss drug Mediator, reversing earlier ruling

The French drug company Servier has been ordered to pay another hefty fine for its role in a scandal related to its weight loss drug Mediator, a French court ruled Wednesday.

The company must pay €430 million ($470 million) after being found guilty of fraud. Servier sold Mediator while knowing it was potentially harmful to customers, the court found, reversing an earlier ruling which had acquitted the company of the charge.
