UK’s National Cancer Research Institute to shut down, citing ‘risk of operational failure’

The UK nonprofit National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is winding down its operations after 22 years of advancing cancer research.

NCRI chair Fiona Driscoll announced the news in a letter on Monday.

“We are proud that many of the original purposes of the NCRI have been achieved or taken over as business as usual by Partners. However, uncertainty in the wider economic and research environment has had an impact,” Driscoll said.
