Americans are on the hook for more of their healthcare expenses than ever before.
In the past few years, roughly 30% of all employees have been enrolled in high-deductible health plans, up from 20% a decade ago, according to KFF. Premiums, meanwhile, increased by 7% in 2023 for employer-sponsored health plans, a main way Americans get insurance coverage.
