A former researcher from Jim Wilson’s gene therapy lab at the University of Pennsylvania has sued Wilson and the university for profiting off her inventions without her knowledge and sabotaging her attempts to commercialize the technology herself.
Susan Faust, who was a postdoctoral researcher in Wilson’s gene therapy program from 2010 to early 2013, and her biotech NxGEN Vector Solutions said that Wilson and UPenn “concealed” licensing agreements for her patents, including a 2016 deal with Biogen worth up to $2 billion. She was the only uncompensated inventor in that deal, the lawsuit said.
